Plain language, no surprises. These are the rules you agree to when you hold a date for the depot building.
Reserving a date on this site places a hold on the depot building for that calendar day. The hold is free. It becomes a rental when rent and deposit are paid at key pickup. One rental per day; the building is not split into morning and afternoon slots.
The reservation covers the depot building only. The lawn, playground, picnic tables and both picnic shelters remain open to the public and are first come, first served. You are welcome to use them; you cannot reserve them.
Rent is $75 per day. A $50 damage and cleaning deposit is also collected. Both are paid at key pickup, by cash or check. Nothing is charged online. The deposit is returned in full when the building is found clean and undamaged at the morning inspection after your event, either at key return or by mail.
Cancel or move your date at no charge up to 14 days before the event. Inside 14 days, half the deposit is retained if the deposit has already been paid. If the deposit has not been paid, the hold is simply released. If the key is not picked up and rent not paid before the event, and staff must open the building after hours, the deposit is forfeited.
Severe weather does not cancel a reservation; the building is indoors. If the building becomes unusable for any reason on our side, you receive a full refund of anything paid and first choice of a replacement date.
The key is collected the business day before or the morning of your event. It comes with a small key for the padlocked storage room by the drinking fountain, where the fuse box, broom and mop are kept. After your event, close the windows, turn off the lights, lock both doors and return the key to the marked drop box. Do not hand the key to anyone else.
No alcohol may be brought to or consumed in the park or the building without an approved permit. Permits require a written request submitted by the first of the month before your event and are approved individually; allow a month. Tick the alcohol box when you reserve and you will be contacted about the permit. Alcohol without a permit ends the rental and forfeits the deposit.
No glass containers or bottles anywhere in the park, inside or out, permit or not. Cans and plastic only.
Leave the floor as you found it; sweep or mop if needed. Remove all leftover food. Bag the garbage and leave it in the cans inside or in the storage room. Wipe the tables. Restock nothing; supplies are in the restroom cupboard for your use. The building is inspected the morning after every rental, and the deposit is returned when it passes.
You are responsible for your guests and for any damage to the building, furnishings, grounds or fixtures during your rental, beyond the $50 deposit if the cost exceeds it. Do not tape, nail or staple anything to the walls or woodwork. No open flames indoors other than candles on a cake. No smoking inside. The building was built in 1885; treat it that way.
Depot Park sits in a residential block. Amplified music must end by 10 pm. Fireworks are not allowed. Vehicles stay in the lot and on the street, not on the grass. Pets are welcome in the park on a leash and are not allowed inside the building.
The building seats 46. Do not block the doors. The drinking fountain on the outside wall is potable. In an emergency call 911; the address is 55 Washington Street, Kenyon.
Your name, contact details and event details are kept only to manage the reservation and to send the confirmation. They are stored on our own server and are not sold or shared. A record of your agreement to these terms, with the version and time, is kept with the reservation.
Ticking the agreement box on the reservation form and submitting it constitutes your acceptance of these terms for that reservation. Terms may be updated; the version in force is the one shown at the top of this page on the day you reserve.
